Summary of Role

To assist in project engineering and the maintenance of current ANS air traffic management systems.

Primary Responsibilities

-Project work: assist with capturing requirements, developing test plans and help with installation, testing and transition of new systems and system upgrades.

-Conduct feasibility studies to identify possible solutions to meet requirements using existing or emerging technologies.

-Produce system architecture diagrams and documentation e.g. interface control documents and implement change to engineering processes and procedures.

 

Data gathering, checks, analysis, restoration, installation, testing

-Support performance checks and maintenance activities on the ATS/CNS equipment, including on-line and off-line reconfigurations and the associated withdrawal and introductions to service of equipment. 

-Analyse the status of operational safety related equipment in order to detect any potential degradation of normal operation.

-Assist in the analysis of system performance and events in support of SATE and GM responsibilities, e.g. system lifecycle analysis, 3rd party supplier performance etc.

-Support in restoring operational equipment to service as soon as practicable. 

-Gather and analyse data to determine user system requirements.

-Identify recommendations to support Asset Management decisions and participation in design reviews.

-Review of 3rd party design documentation.

 

Maintenance

-Maintain personal equipment type recency and informing the SATE of any lapse. Request electrical services, works services, building repairs, replacement equipment etc from customer departments or third-party contractors on behalf of and as directed by the SATE.

-Maintain technical records to the standards required by ANSL, the airport, CAA and other pertinent authorities. 

-Maintain the Air Traffic Engineering Watch Log and associated registers.

-Monitor technical stores, spares and tools and test equipment informing the SATE of issues in a timely manner.

 

Safety

-Prepare safety assurance and quality documentation.

-Participating in unit hazard identification and risk assessment activities.

-Provide input to engineering related safety investigations. 

-Attend senior management meetings and relevant ad-hoc internal meetings as requested.

 

Compliance

-Monitor the compliance of 3rd party suppliers.

-Comply with all applicable international, European and UK CAA Regulatory Requirements, including those related to Safety Management Systems and integrate these with the requirements of the ANSP.

Personal Specification

 

Experience

Airport or Aviation experience is useful but not essential.

Qualifications and Training

-An engineering or technology related degree or a recognised qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. electronics, computer systems etc.)

-Full UK driving licence
