Project Manager (6 month FTC)

Summary of Role

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing Proposals, Bids and Tenders as well as the full project life cycle for a number of key business projects and initiatives for Edinburgh Airport. They will work within and help further develop the established professional project management methodologies, techniques, and controls ensuring project governance is understood and adhered to throughout the organisation.  The Project Manager will be the main point of contact for Edinburgh Airport (taking on the role of Account Manager), co-ordinate internal resources and other third parties to ensure Projects are delivered successfully, on time and to budget. The Project Manager will report project progress to the project boards / Senior Leadership team ensuring any issues are openly communicated and addressed. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead day to day planning and delivery of multifunctional projects. 
  • Work within and, where appropriate, support the continuous improvement process of developing and updating standardised project management methodologies ensuring effective, efficient governance of all projects; championing a consistent and practical approach to project management throughout the organisation while instilling discipline and focus.
  • Ensure all can be done to deliver projects on-time, within scope and within budget through life cycle management.
  • Support the delivery of Proposals, Tenders and Bids as part of the Business Development process and develop and deliver Strategic Business Cases for concepts of work. 
  • Manage remote project teams from Project Kick off all the way through to Closure.
  • Coordinate project resources (both internal and external) including stakeholder mapping and engagement.
  • Manage the compliance of contractors to contract terms and conditions.
  • Maintain the master documents and business tools which drive the on-target delivery of each project.
  • Manage risks and ensure contingency plans are in place where required.
  • Ensure Change and Configuration Management are executed in a controlled manner while balancing any scope creep with the business needs and project deliverables.
  • Liaise directly with the regulator to keep them up to date with the status of projects and determine areas of concern that require focus.
  • Develop project reporting and present to a range of audiences including Project Highlight Reports, Programme Board and Strategy Board Packs as well as ad hoc Project Deep Dives.
  • Facilitate Lesson Learned workshops and create Project Closure Reports.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with project team, co-workers, supervisors, the customer and external contacts while balancing a day-to-day workload with the requirements of the projects.
  • Highlight future project opportunities that help deliver the Company’s strategic aims, improve processes, and/or improve service to clients.

Personal Specification
Qualifications and Training

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Prince 2 Practitioner, Agile, PMP, Six Sigma qualified or equivalent.

Experience

  • Significant PM experience.
  • Solid technical background with experience managing complex multi-functional projects.
  • Experience of working within a highly regulated industry is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the aviation and air traffic industry is desirable.

  • Strong influencing skills – capable of working with and challenging internal and external senior managers and directors. 
  • Experience producing monthly reports relating to project deliverables.
